Meet Trish Tutton this year's Opening Keynote Speaker and a Concurrent Session Speaker

After years working in cultures where stress and burnout were seemingly the only way to success, Trish suffered a shocking loss and things became clear: stress is unavoidable, but it doesn’t have to dictate our lives. As a speaker and mindfulness teacher, Trish has taught the skills to become UNSHAKABLE and THRIVE amidst change and challenge to thousands of folks across North America. She is passionate about helping folks become more resilient and less stressed with simple but impactful mindfulness techniques. You can find her as a teacher on the #1 free meditation app in the world, Insight Timer, and she is the author of the Mindful Mornings Journal.

My training highlights include: 

* With a background in non-profit events organization, I have a deep appreciation for those working in high-stress environments.

Christine Vanagas

Concurrent Session 1

Meet Christine Vanagas one of our Concurrent Session Speakers

Christine Vanagas (Bear Clan) is from Long Plain First Nation with Anishinaabe and Dakota roots. Christine serves as the Director of Community Wellness at Siloam Mission in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Previous to this role, she was the Governance Secretary at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation from 2018 - 2022 where she was blessed to work closely with residential school Survivors and Indigenous knowledge keepers from across Canada. As a granddaughter, daughter and niece of residential school Survivors, Christine comes with lived experience of the impact this system had on Indigenous families. She holds closely the teachings from the Indigenous Elders she was blessed to sit with and learn from, and it is these teachings that informs the pathways to Wellness she develops in her current

position.

Dr. Kristin Reynolds

Meet Dr. Kristin Reynolds Ph. D.. C. Psych one of our Concurrent Session Speakers

 

Dr. Kristin Reynolds is a Registered Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor, and Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. She is a Research Affiliate and Board Member with the University of Manitoba Centre on Aging. She is the Director of the Health Information Exchange Laboratory, where her research aims to decrease gaps in the translation of health-related knowledge to the public and increase access to health-related information and services. As a Primary Investigator, she holds funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Research Manitoba, and the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. Dr. Reynolds’ work has been published in multidisciplinary and international journals including World Psychiatry; Qualitative Health Research; Frontiers in Health Services; and Depression and Anxiety. Dr. Reynolds is passionate about mental health and is the Past-Chair of the Canadian Psychological Association Clinical Section. She has received the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute of Aging Research Prize as well as the University of Manitoba Rh Award for the advancement of science in the social sciences category.

Michael Landsberg

Closing Keynote Session

Meet Michael Landsberg our Closing Keynote Speaker

 

Former Off the Record host Michael Landsberg is a charismatic icon of the Canadian sports community. He’s also one of the country’s most vocal mental health advocates, the founder of the #SickNotWeak non-profit organization, and is dedicated to eradicating stigma and building community. In his presentations, he shows how the road to healing begins with non-judgemental conversation.

Landsberg has talked about his own struggle with depression for decades. In his 2013 documentary, Darkness and Hope: Depression, Sports, and Me, Landsberg opened up about his own struggles with mental illness, as well as interviewing famous guests about their own battles. Darkness and Hope was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award, and Landsberg was personally honored with the organization’s Humanitarian Award. The Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health also named Landsberg one of its Champions of Mental Health. He went on to join the Bell Let’s Talk mental health initiative and continues to be an ambassador for the campaign. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Landsberg has extended his efforts with #SickNotWeak to create Isolation Nation: a digital program dedicated to mitigating the dangerous effects of social isolation on mental health.

One of the best-known personalities in Canadian broadcasting, Landsberg has been with TSN since the network’s inception in 1984. He hosted the highly acclaimed Off the Record from its debut in 1997 to its finale in 2015 and is currently the co-host of TSN’s First Up. Twice nominated for the Gemini Award for Best Host or Interviewer in a Sports Program or Sportscast, Landsberg was the Whistler Host for Olympic Daytime on CTV during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. During the London 2012 Olympic Games, he anchored TSN’s Olympic Daytime.
