Thorvaldson Care Center is a unique all-inclusive Intermediate Care facility. An 'Enhanced' level of care is provided by an on-site Nurse and 24hr Health Care staff.  We cater to those elderly who do not need placement in a Personal Care Home - yet require more support than what is currently offered in the community.  Our priority is to provide a safe and comfortable environment - with attentive, consistent and reliable staff to meet the needs of our residents.  

We are valuable option for the elderly, where:

 ~ Homecare services are unable to provide enough support in the community

 ~ Supportive Housing facilities provide a limited level of care 

~ Personal Care Home placement would be premature  

What does Intermediate Care offer? 

~ 24hr care/supervision by on-site health care staff (First Aid/CPR training)

 ~ Nurse on-site Mon-Fri (daytime)

 ~ Medications administered (incl. Inhalers/eyedrops/Rx ointments/dermal patches) ~ Daily living assistance (dressing/bath/hygiene) 

~ Three meals per day plus snacks

 ~ Housekeeping/Laundry 

~ Daily activity program

s ~ Private bedsitting room with washroom 

~ Family advocate in Winnipeg NOT REQUIRED  

Nursing Services offered:

 ~ Health assessment/treatment/monitoring

 ~ Communication with medical practitioners

 ~ Hospital discharge follow-up 

~ Medications administered and managed (refills/changes) 

~ Monitor blood sugar/blood pressure/weight 

~ On-site preliminary testing for Urinary Tract infections

~ Weekly Dynacare Lab visit (blood, urine, stool collected) 

~ Portable X-ray services arranged

 ~ Focus on health maintenance to prevent Emergency Dept visits
