Representation and Advocacy
Our dedicated staff, with the guidance of the Association’s Board of Directors and committee members, represents your interests and concerns regarding long term and continuing care issues to the Minister of Health, Manitoba Health and the Regional Health Authorities.

This includes:
  • Representation on Regional Health Authority committees
  • Representation on Provincial Task Forces/Committees
  • Legislated standards review
  • Service Purchase Agreement negotiations
  • Presentation of position papers regarding major issues of concern to long term care
  • Access to Protection for Persons in Care Provincial Advisory Council
  • Representation on National Task Force on MDS
  • Representation on the Canadian Alliance for Long Term Care
Communication and Information
We provide an avenue for communication, support and information sharing through a variety of mediums.
  • Focusing on elevating the standards of service delivery in Manitoba we have established educational sessions for health professionals, CEOs, Managers, Staff Development Directors and support workers from community agencies and Long Term and Continuing Care residences across Manitoba.
  • Our comprehensive website is an excellent resource keeping members abreast of current programs and services as well as providing them with an opportunity to post organizational profiles.
  • As a member of the Canadian Alliance for Long Term Care Associations we participate in sharing information on a national level on behalf of our membership.
  • Various resource materials are readily available to active members.
  • We continuously study and inform members on pending and enacted legislation having application to long term and continuing care.
Networking
There are many opportunities for members to provide input into the future direction of the Association and take advantage of networking opportunities through external task forces, standing and special committee meetings, educational advisory groups and educational programs.
  • Our membership directory is a primary resource to all members to encourage networking.
  • Our Provincial Long Term and Continuing Care Conference is an educational event and commercial exhibition held annually and is an opportunity to develop new partnerships and reaffirm existing ones.
  • CEO meetings are held monthly to exchange best practices and discuss specific areas of concern.
  • Non-Profit Long Term Care Association (NPLTCA)
Negotiations
Membership concerns are represented collectively by lobbying government and Health Authorities on important issues such as funding.

Awards and Recognition
  • An award for excellence is given each year by the Long Term & Continuing Care Association of Manitoba to honour the efforts, dedication of outstanding Long Term and Continuing Care service teams, employees, volunteers and/or providers who go above and beyond their call of duty.
  • In our continued pursuit to maintain a high level of standards in delivering quality service to our residence the Association encourages and acknowledges “best practice” efforts. We offer an opportunity to showcase their stories on our website.
